    St. David's Day Dinner 2008

Draig Werdd celebrated St. David's Day once more with a well-attended dinner at the Montclare Hotel in Dublin.  This year we were delighted to have Dafydd Wigley, honorary president of Plaid Cymru, as guest speaker.  Dafydd entertained and informed us with his views on modern Wales and its relationship with Ireland, and in the course of his talk encouraged all Welsh people living outside Wales to do what they can, however small, to represent our homeland, quoting St. David when he said "do the little things in life".    He also proved a popular guest in the informal socialising that took place following the dinner.

Following his return to Wales, Dafydd sent us the following message:  "Just a note to thank you very much for the welcome I received from you in Dublin last Friday.  ...  I hope the Draig Werdd society goes from strength to strength.  Maybe our paths will cross again sometime in the future.  Thanks again and best wishes to the members."
